About Me

I am an inveterate lifelong learner. My curiosity and passion for doing my best has led me down quite a few paths. Many, like Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken", have made all the difference. Here are some of the criss-crossed meanderings and interests of my life.

  • EdTech Interests:
    • CUE Rock Star Teacher Camp: I attended  my first one in August 2015 as a #CUELeadLearner in Crescent City, CA. I have since participated in and been a lead learner in other #CUErockstar camps.
    • Boise State Educational Technology Ed.D.: As of December 2016, I've completed 24 of the 66 required units to complete an Ed.D. in Educational Technology. I've taken courses to explore interests, including EdTech 537 on Blogging and EdTech 542 on Project Based Learning or PBL.  Now I'm in the midst of the doctoral courses. While the learning curve is steep, the professors and 2016 EdD Cohort are fantastic!
  • Instructional Coach:
    • In the 2016-2017 school year, I entered my second year as an Instructional Coach , at Capistrano Unified School District, supporting instruction at the secondary level. I currently support three middle schools in the district. We have a strong secondary instructional team. Key foci this year are development of Professional Learning Communities and Great First Instruction (GFI).
  • Google Certifications
    • Google Certified Trainer: I am very proud to have become a Google Trainer in January 2017. I am learning so much from this community and challenging myself to know ans share more of what I'm learning.
    • Google Certified Educator Training: I have earned the Google Certified Educator Level 1 and Level 2 badges. What I liked about the training and certification process is that they both focused on skills needed to be a more effective educator in the GAFE environment. If you want to learn more, start with the Fundamentals Training and move on from there!
  • NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness
    • I participated in the Family to Family training through NAMI Orange County 2015 Because of this training, I better understand how to support a family member with mental illness. This is a daily struggle. I look at sunrises and sunsets as my daily reminder that each day is the chance to learn and begin again. If you, a family member, or a friend struggle with mental illness, check out the resources from NAMI!
