Up, Periscope?

Have you heard of the new app, Periscope?
Periscope Logo

It is owned by Twitter, and can be used to create a live broadcast. I have seen it pop-up (pardon the pun) quite a bit this summer, between educators whom I follow periscoping (yes it's now a verb) sessions at conferences, to a favorite band, for King & Country, giving fans a backstage, sneak peek into its summer tour.

Want to know more? Watch this brief YouTube by Sunny Lenarduzzi with instructions on how to use Periscope. She also compares it to Meerkat, a similar app.

I have really enjoyed being a watcher of Periscope. This week, I will be joining the faculty at Cue Rock Star Teacher Camp in Crescent City. I will try to Periscope from there, to try it out! Hope to share Periscope with you soon!

  3. Hi Brian and Kelly,
Check it out! It will surprise you. Might make a Mystery Periscope activity like Mystery Skype?

  4. I've been hearing tons about it, too! I was at a SMART Global Summit in Canada and everyone was Periscoping! It seems like the thing to do now if you want to be "one of the cool kids." :)

    1. It is fun to play with and there are probably lots of applications for education. It happens to be early in the life cycle of this product, so it does seem cool at the moment.

  5. I am having trouble tonight commenting on blogs in blogspot... so I apologize if my comments are coming up twice. I just started hearing about periscope, too. Were you able to use it at CUE?

    1. I did use it at CUE. I used it this a.m. If you follow me on Twitter, you should be able to look on Periscope to find an already recorded periscope session on Cue Rock Star from this morning. Let me know if you can't find it! It is only up for 24 hours!

  6. I love Periscope! It is a great application. I have been brainstorming ideas of how to use it in the classroom. I have used it as a resource for myself, but now I have to figure out how to use it as a resource for my students.
